LESSON 5 Houses and Lives
Presentation transcript:

People take off their shoes when they enter the room. They separate the outside from inside with a step and a removal shoes. They can feel relaxed to take off their shoes. Japanese houses have tatami, a straw mat, it can be damaged by shoes. Japanese usually sit on the floor, not a chair.

Most of Japanese houses have bath tabs. Japanese like taking bath. They enjoy bath with spa powder which is their favorite flavor. Some people use a rest of water to wash their clothes. People have to take a bath after thoroughly washing.

Japanese usually like noodles. The slurping sound shows that people are enjoying the taste. There are three different noodles, udon, soba, ramen. They let noodles cool making noisy sound.

Everyone says ‘itadakimasu’ when the meal starts. The word means thank you for what we are receiving. Japanese don’t say grace at the beginning of a meal. At the end of a meal, everyone says ‘gochisousamadeaita’ means almost same as ‘itadakimasu’.

Karaoke was born in Japan. It lets you sing along with prerecorded music. Everyone has a lot of fun to sing there with their family or friends or co-workers. It costs cheap, so it is easy to go for everyone.

Especially in an urban area, many people go to school or work by trains. Trains are crowded with so many students and workers. Some people make up their faces there! Some gropers in trains are big problem. Crowded trains are a symbol of hard-working Japanese.

The shinkansen is a fast, safe mode of transportation that Japan takes pride in. This Japanese railway skill are known and used all over the world. The entire of Japan is covered by a railway network. There are some big fans of railways called tetsuota or Techan.
