The Exciting 30s This eighth grade exit project is based on the 1930s. The 1930s had some very exciting events such as Bonnie and Clyde were killed by the police, Golden Gate Bridge completed, Etc. Created by: Dia’Jah Hickson

1930- Pluto Was Discovered Astronomer Clyde Tombaugh discovered this planet, but the search was inspired by Percival Lowell. Actually the search for Pluto started a year before Tombaugh was even born.

1930- Pluto Was Discovered Cont. Clyde discovered Pluto February 18th 1930, a little after 4pm mountain time. The first time Tombaugh saw Pluto, the first words he said to himself was “that’s it”.

1931- Empire State Building Completed Raskob came up with the solution of the thought of wanting to make the Empire Sate building himself. This building was completed at 1,046ft with 77 stories. The opening hours are Monday-Sunday at 8am-2am. Children have to pay $13.78 to in, and adults have to pay $19.29.

1932- Air Conditioning Invented People consider Willis Havilland Carrier is the “father of air conditioning” or “the father of cool”. He was the first to make air conditioner units. The idea of air conditioning probably started in the 19th century when a British inventor named Michael Faraday uncovered the secret of chilling air.

1933- The Assassination of FDR On February 15th 1933 president-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt had just sat down after giving a speech at the Bay front park in Miami Florida when five shots rang out.

1933- The Assassination of FDR Cont. Zangara states that he wanted to kill FDR because Zangara blamed FDR, all rich people, and capitalist for his chronic stomach pain.

1934- Bonnie and Clyde Killed By Police At the age of 19 Bonnie Parker met Clyde Barrow while she was visiting her husband in jail. After she helped Barrow escape, they became ‘partners’. A little after that Bonnie was caught stealing a car and her consequences were three months in jail.

1935- Germany issues the anti-Jewish Nuremberg laws This law issued on September 15th 1935, approved by Hitler personally deprived Jews of citizenship, prohibited Jewish households from having German maids under the age of 4.

1935- Germany Issues the Anti- Jewish Nuremberg Laws Cont. Prohibited any non-Jewish German from marrying a Jew and outlawed sexual relations between Jews and Germans, but failed to specify who counted as a Jew.

1936- The Spanish War Began The Spanish civil war began on July 18th This war took 500,000 lives though official’s figures have now put the casualty figure as high as one million, but in 1931 Spanish king Alfonzo XIII authorized electrons to decide the government of Spain.

1937- Golden Gate Bridge Opens Before the bridge was named the Golden Gate Bridge it was named Chrysopylae. But finally on May 27 th, 1937 the bridge opened to pedestrians and on May 28 th, 1937 the bridge opened to automobiles, the bride was the longest span in the world until they built Verrazano Narrows Bridge.

1938- The night of the broken glass. The night of the broken glass (German: Reidiskristallnaucht) is the notorious up to them worst program (persecution) against the German Jews. It took place throughout the German Reich on November 9-10th Many Jews were murdered.

1939- Helicopters Were Invented Helicopters come in many different sizes and can perform many different tasks, but the most amazing thing about the helicopter is that it was invented by a kid. Igor Sikorsky thought of this brilliant idea and made models of the helicopter when he was in grade school in Russia.
