 Come prepared to the media center:  Have your library books – drop them in the book drop.  Reading log  Pencils  Enter the red / green side quietly:  This helps with traffic changing classes.  Look to the SmartBoard or chart board for instructions:  Sit in the floor for read aloud.  Instructions for research / library skills.

 SmartBoard Activities:  Videos  Research / Library Skills (9 week rotation)  Books Online  Read Alouds:  Whole Group  Working on ELA GPS  Book Fairs:  October 21 – 28, 2011

 Use a book marker when looking for a book.  Do NOT leave books in the floor.  Put books back on the shelf in the correct place with the spine out.  Use bookmarks / paper / sticky notes. NO PENCILS!!!

 If you do NOT have any books checked out, you are allowed to check out 2 books.  If you are missing 1 book, then you can get 1 book.  If you are missing ALL books, you cannot check-out any books until at least 1 is returned.  Lost / Over due notices every 4 ½ weeks with progress reports & report cards.

 If the timer has NOT sounded, please return to your seat and READ SILENTLY until you are called to check-out.  When the timer sounds, listen for your group to be called to the circulation desk.  Boys & Girls  Tables  If there is still library time left, return to your seat continuing to READ SILENTLY.  Exit on the yellow / blue side of the media center.

 25 Book Campaign (25 Books = 3,750 pages)  3 rd grade – 50 AR points  4 th grade – 150 pages = 1 book  5 th grade – 150 pages = 1 book  3 rd GRADE GOAL (1.5+ points / week)  1 st 9 weeks = 10 pts.  2 nd 9 weeks = 14 pts.  3 rd 9 weeks = 14 pts.  4 th 9 weeks = 12 pts.

 4 th & 5 th GRADE GOALS  118 pages / week  Goal for each 9 weeks  1 st 9 weeks = 708 pages (cut-off 10/12/11)  2 nd 9 weeks = 1,062 pages (cut-off 12/16/11)  3 rd 9 weeks = 1,062 pages (cut-off 3/8/12)  4 th 9 weeks = 944 pages (cut-off 5/4/12)

 AR :  Using AR:  AR icon AR icon  Log-in under student  Username – first name space last name  Password – your 4 digits  Click Take Quiz  Click Take Reading Practice Quiz  Search for book by title or author (see next slide)  Click highlighted title  Answer the following questions – take quiz

 You can search by TITLE:  Click the “contains” circle by title to highlight.  Type in the title of your book and click “search”  Look for the correct title, author, AR pts, and AR level and click the highlighted title.  You can search by AUTHOR:  Click the “contains” circle by author to highlight.  Type in the author of your book and click “search”.  Look for the correct title, author, AR pts, and AR level and click the highlighted title.

 Where will it be located?  Back wall of media center  How can I get my picture on the wall?  Be in the TOP 10 AR points for your grade level.  Be in the 10 pt, 15 pt, 25 pt, 50 pt, 100 pt, 150 pt, or 200 pt club!
