What Are The Implications For Teaching and Learning? PLAYA DEL REY ELEMENTARY PARENT MEETING 2/26/14 Smarter Balanced Assessment Exploration

Objective Participants will look at the demands our students will face in 2014 by exploring the Smarter Balanced Practice Test released in May 2013.

Smarter Balanced Practice Tests Provide and early look at sets of assessment questions aligned to the Common Core for grades 3-8 and 11 in both ELA and Mathematics. Allow different groups of stakeholders to experience the features of online testing and gain insight into how Smarter Balanced will assess students’ mastery of the Common Core Standards They do not cover all of the content that students will encounter in the Spring 2014 Field Test There are no reports or scores produced after taking the assessment They follow a form-fixed model, not computer adaptive
