The Colonists After the French and Indian War

Restless Colonists Colonists gained confidence and experience in military strategy and strength 20,000 Americans had been recruited however they had issues with the British officers who regarded them as poorly trained back woods soldiers

American Colonists on their own Terms American shippers continued to export food to the Spanish and French West Indies even though Britain is fighting these two powers on a larger global stage British forbid the export of all supplies from New England and the Middle Colonies Do you think that it is fair for the colonies to continue to export to British enemies?

Intercolonial Disunity Largely a result of distance, geographic barriers, conflicting religions, nationalists, government, boundary disputes, etc. Tension between those who feel that some colonists want to rights of Englishmen without the duties and responsibilities that come along with those rights

Barriers Begin to Breakdown The French and Indian War was the first time that these barriers start to be broken down Colonists realize that they share a common language and common ideals as Americans

Proclamation of 1763 Issued by London Prohibited settlement beyond the Appalachians Not designed to oppress colonists but to handle negotiations with the Natives If you were a colonist in 1763 how do you feel about this Proclamation? Why?
