Vampire Bat Facts By Jack Bunnell

Over the last month I have been researching the vampire bat. I will tell you about its physical description, habitat, defense, prey, predators and some interesting facts.

Physical Description

Habitat Do you know where the vampire bat lives? The vampire bat lives in South America in caves, hollow trees, and dark places. Things you will see in the vampire bat’s habitat are mice and darkness.

Defense Do you know how the vampire bat protects itself from predators? The vampire bat uses echolocation to protect itself. The bat sends a sound through the air. It sends a sound like eek. The sound bounces its enemy and it knows where it is and can avoid it.

Prey Slurp…slurp.. slurp. There goes the vampire bat drinking animal blood. The vampire bat drinks only one tablespoon of blood a day. Several vampire bats feed on the same animals at once.

Predators Eeek…Eeek…Eeek. The vampire bats predators are a raccoons, snakes, opossums, and a tarantula? Tarantulas go on the vampire bat and eat them. Raccoons, opossums are enemies of the vampire bat. Snakes eat vampire bats too.

Interesting Facts Do you know some interesting facts about the vampire bat? Vampire bats are probably the most famous and most favorite of all bats. The vampire bats front teeth cut a shallow wound so blood flows. They lap up blood with their tongues.

In closing, I know there is a lot to know about the vampire bat. It was fun researching the vampire bat.
