Interview One: Nedda Lemman Q: What would you say your job description is? Nedda: I’m the president, which means I do the bookkeeping, tax returns, hiring/firing, administration… I do everything. Q: How long have you been running your own business? Nedda: Sixteen years. Q: What do you like best about what you do? Nedda: I enjoy helping other people succeed in their personal and small business ventures. Q: What do you like least about what you do? Nedda: Working with unethical individuals. Q: How have you structured your business? Nedda: I bought into a franchise, Padgett Business Services, and adopted their business structure. By buying into Padgett we also gained their marketing power, they make our signs, ads, etc., as well as access to their tax professionals in case we ever have questions with a job we’re doing. Q: Why did you choose starting your own business and why did you choose accounting? Nedda: Flexibility, being able to control my own schedule and I’ve always enjoyed working with money and numbers. Q: What is your ultimate goal for your business? Nedda: To have a professional staff that puts me in a position to sit back and manage it without having to do most of the work myself.

Interview Two: Josh Lemman Q: How long have you been an accountant? Josh: Three years. Q: Why did you choose accounting as a career? Josh: The language of business and the law was always appealing to me, and I’ve always been good with numbers. Q: What do you like best about being an accountant? Josh: Consulting with clients on improving processes and general operations. Q: What do you like least about being an accountant? Josh: Tax season. Q: What does a typical schedule look like for you? Josh: I averaged 50hours a week this year. Set schedule. Stayed late every day. Minimum of 8.5 hours a day. They pay time and a half for overtime.
