Background Support to WHO/AFRO as part of 2007 work plan implementation: Mapping out partners involved in medicines procurement and distribution including medicines for HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria etc In-depth assessment of medicines procurement and supply management systems in countries

WHO Support to countries Logistics and financial support Technical expertise in developing the tools: Questionnaire & methodology to map medicines financing/financial flow & distribution (EM, HIV/AIDS, malaria, TB etc) Questionnaire & methodology on assessment of medicines procurement and supply management at the various level of health care Software to analyse data collected

Development Process Collaboration with: Countries EDM/AFRO RPA/AFRO Other WHO units (PSM, AMDS..) UNICEF (WCARO)  Collaboration to avoid duplication of work

Implementation of Tool Ongoing in 9 countries UNICEF (WCARO), to use parts for HIV & PMTCT medicines assessment, and GMP Exploring other partnership
