Teen Pregnancy Outcomes

Effects on Education Teenage mothers are not very likely to complete high school. Only about 1.5% of teen mothers earn a college degree before age 30.

Effects On The Children Sons of teenage mothers happen to be 13% more likely to end up in jail. Daughters of teenage mothers are 22& more likely to become a teen mother themselves.

Adult Facts 78% of adults believe that teenagers should have access to contraception. Kids raised by both parents have a lower chance of having sex. One in two teens honestly ‘trust’ their parents for this type of information.

General Facts About 820,000 women under the age of 20 become pregnant a year. That is 196,950 more people than the entire state of Vermont.

Country Facts Teen pregnancy costs $7 billion annually in the U.S. The United States has the highest teen pregnancy rate.

STD Facts Over 20 diseases can be sexually transmitted. An average of 40,000-80,000 new cases of HIV are reported annually. Almost half of that are under the age of 25. About 3,000,000 cases of STDs are reported in teenagers annually.
