1.1 Increased Parental Involvement Develop homework that engages parents in the learning process Develop homework that engages parents in the learning process – Quarterly at Home Projects and Activities  Q3 ELA Book Studies for display at Literacy Night March 15, 2012 (in progress) – Utilize technology to improve communication  Text blast system, class websites (ongoing)

1.2 Reading Objective Develop a love of reading among all students Develop a love of reading among all students – Classroom Take-Home Libraries K-2  Books purchased, distributed, and checkout systems developed (ongoing) – Monitor Independent Reading  Implementation of Book-it Program K-6, Oakie’s Reading Rangers K-8 (March), teacher monitored reading logs (ongoing) – Utilize cross curricular, high interest reading selections – Visual aides for classroom instruction

1.2 Reading Objective (cont.) Pull-out/Push-in differentiated support for struggling students Pull-out/Push-in differentiated support for struggling students – Program Related Intervention Lessons and Activities  Reading Paraprofessional and Reading Specialist are using StoryTown Intervention Station Materials with identified students (in progress) Reading Specialist Reading Specialist – Reading Specialist will work with staff and students throughout the school day to assist in increasing literacy among struggling students and promote instructional best practices.  Mrs. Lough is employed as the Reading Specialist at PACE (on going)

1.3 Writing Objective Alignment of ELA program with Common Core/Skills Mastery Alignment of ELA program with Common Core/Skills Mastery – Determine ELA Program skill units – Generate skill focused ELA program  The planned focus for upcoming ELA team meetings (not yet implemented) Increased Process Writing Increased Process Writing – Increased Writing Across the Curriculum Areas – Process Writing Time Allocation  Daily allocation of time by teachers for writing, although writing is increasing scheduled into lesson plans it is not yet a daily practice schoolwide (in progress, not yet fully implemented)
