 This year we have had great and outstanding movies. From the ones that make us laugh and roll and the floor to the ones that make us cry and other that make us learn to appreciate what we really have and be grateful for it. We have great categories which include so many talented actresses and actors, great film directors and music directors. Here are your nominees:

Luhrmann- Romeo and Juliet James Cameron - Avatar

The Golden Globe goes to Luhrmann- Romeo and Juliet. He does an outstanding job in capturing Shakespeare essence, but still making it original. He makes the film more modern then others by changing the location of where it occurs and their clothing however, he still keeps Shakespeare blank verses. He does not make it a musical to make it more modern. Act IV of this marvelous movie differs from the original play and other movies such as Zefirellies. The same events happen but he makes them more interesting. Take how the card never gets to Romeo for instance, it was sent to him but he never got it because he was not at home. In the original play and in Zefirellies it does not get to him because Romeos servant gets there before the messenger. In other movies such as the musical West Side Story Romeo/Tony is not even sent a letter. The changes that Luhrmann does to movie capture the teens attention making it more popular and known all around the world. Teens can relate more to the events that happen due to the fact that the events that happen are more modern.

West Side StoryNine

The Golden Globe goes to West Side Story. This musical is wonderful, even though it is a modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, it is still interesting. It is very different form many other films of Romeo and Juliet. In Act IV Maria/Juliet is never given the poison to be “dead”, her best friend Anita, tells Romeo/Tony friends that she is dead so this event really changes how Shakespeare had written the original play. Anita does not decide her fate like in Zefirellies or Luhrmann, it is decided for her. This movie can be enjoyed my music lovers. West Side Story does an extraordinary job in narrating this lovers life by songs.

Romeo and Juliet - ZefirelliUp in the Air

The Golden Globe goes to Zefirelli- Romeo and Juliet. He does a great job capturing Shakespeare essence. He uses the same setting, clothing and language in which Shakespeare wrote the original play. The movie is very dramatic and romantic at the same time. Unlike many other movies, Zefirelli does not try to change it to make it more original. He sticks with the original play which is wonder full for classic lovers. In act IV he does miss some important points when Juliet is telling the priest she is willing to suicide herself instead of marring Paris, however he makes the audience travel back in time and see what the main characters real lives were like- dramatic.

ZefirelliLuhrmannWest Side Story Once Juliet gets to the Church to confess her sins she does not threaten to kill herself. Juliet threatens to kill herself with a gun. Maria never does to Church and never threatens to kill herself. Priest gives Juliet poison that would make her seem dead. Like Zefirelli the priest Juliet poison so she would seem dead. Maria does not even think about faking a death, however, her best friend Anita “ kills “ her by telling Tony friends she was killed by Chino. Juliet's wedding is moved to Wednesday so she drink the poison Tuesday night. Juliet drinks poison the night before her wedding- Wednesday. Maria never drinks a drop of poison. Priest sends letter to Romeo but while they are mourning Juliet, his servant sees them and runs back to Romeo, past the messenger to tell him the news. Priest send Romeo a letter explaining to him his plan but when they are going to deliver it to him he is not home. Tony is not sent a letter but a messenger- Anita. She never gives the right message.
