PL School Pilots For personalized learning, the plan is to engage in a pilot design process to study, plan, engage, educate and design a model for personalized learning that fits the needs of your school. Houston ISD 14 MARCH 2014: Broadly promote innovation and personalized learning – introduce pilot opportunity. APRIL-MAY 2014: Select a pool of ~5- 8 schools that meet several core criteria. Expose schools to leading models and thinkers to inform their planning. SUMMER-SEPTEMBER 2014: Pilot schools receive: Needs assessment to identify & mitigate key barriers Resources, & support from central depts. Conduct broad education and experience sharing to build momentum for innovation. Campuses may be magnet, charter, or comprehensive schools, and high school, middle school, or elementary. Campuses who currently are not part of the renovations and technology infrastructure upgrades may still participate – special considerations will be discussed if technological infrastructure or support is needed. SEPT 2014-MAY 2015: Design Phase Personalized coaching to build the program at your campus School PL planning teams will implement 1 st stage of PL planning phase. Schools will also need to be prepared to host school visits and interviews with staff and teachers, to share lessons learned and best practices along the way. Learning and Planning: Pilot schools will receive support in the communication of the process, technology support, setting outcome targets, professional development, and curriculum specialist support.
