What did you find out? GN are attractive and motivating Complex plots and narrative structures Excellent for reluctant readers – especially boys! Struggling readers, ELL and SPED students can greatly benefit… Illustrations help with context clues, building vocabulary, language acquisition, determining emotions, etc.

There’s more… Exposure to advanced vocabulary Provide many opportunities to practice critical reading skills Metaphor, symbolism, point of view, puns, alliteration, inference Teach visual literacy and dialogue writing Present complex material in readable text
