Welcome Back! I hope you got some sun Get out a sheet of paper! Only 8 weeks of school left…let’s finish strong!

First Things First… Remember that independent reading project? How is that going? Look at the board behind my desk…if your name is on that board you need to see me after class. Honors: Tomorrow (or Wednesday for odd classes) is the LAST day I am accepting Midsummer Projects…this is 50 pts…get it in!!!

Write a summary of your Spring Break. Include where you went, who you were with, what you did. Practice using strong IMAGERY (strong words that describe senses) Underline lines that use imagery-YOU NEED TO HAVE AT LEAST 4 LINES UNDERLINED. We will share with a partner and then I will ask for volunteers to share with the class

“I Am” Poem I am (1-2 characteristics about yourself) I wonder (something you are actually curious about) I hear (an imaginary sound) I see (an imaginary sight) I want (an actual desire) I am (the first line repeated) I pretend (something that you actually pretend to do) I feel (a feeling about something) I touch (an imaginary touch) I worry (something you actually worry about) I cry (something that makes you sad) I am (the first line repeated) I understand (something you know is true) I say (something you believe in) I dream (something you actually dream about) I try (something you make an effort toward) I hope (something you actually hope for) I am (the first line repeated) *Use 4 poetic devices in your poem. Star next to each line you used a poetic device.

“I Am” Poem I am very curious. *I wonder while I wander. *I hear many people talking, talking, talking, so loudly. *I see many people walking, walking, walking, all around me. I want to go all over and see many different people walking and talking. I am very curious. I pretend I am an explorer. *I feel like a reporter who needs to find the information. I touch the new things around me. I worry I won’t see it all. I cry when I can’t see it all. I am very curious. *I understand that the world is as big as the earth. I say I will see it all. I dream of standing on mountains, beaches, and on city streets. I try to imagine visiting places. *I hope my dreams will come true like they say they sometimes do. I am curious.
