Conjunctions Drake B. and Jaeden R.

What Are They??  Conjunctions are short words that pose as a connector to another sentence, meaning that these words will turn two sentences into one large, complete sentence.

Types of Conjunctions  Coordinating Conjunctions- FANBOYS  Subordinating Conjunctions- Because, Before, When, As Long As, Except That, ect.  Correlative Conjunctions- both...and, not only...but also, either...or, whether... or, neither...nor

The Coordinating Conjunctions (FANBOYS)  For  And  Nor  But  Or  Yet  So

Examples Being Used In a Sentence (Coordinating)  The boy jumped the fence, and hurt his leg.  Johnny-Bill got a flowering kit for his sixteenth birthday, but he asked for a PlayStation4.  Jenny Bilford wanted a new bike, so she worked for the money to buy it.  Johnny-Bill didn't want to take a flowering class, nor did he want a flowering kit for his sixteenth birthday. Johnny-Bill

Subordinating Conjunctions  Join a main clause and a dependent clause  Ex- The house caught fire because we left the stove on.  Ex- I will go to college as long as I do good in high school.

The Correlative Conjunctions  Correlative conjunctions always come in pairs and, like coordinating conjunctions, connect similar kinds of words or groups of words. Ex- I neither like you, nor do I like him. Ex- I enjoy going to both the park, and to the book store.
