 Dynamic Character – The Grinch in the beginning, is very lonely and hates Christmas because he believes that its about gifts, decorations and materialism. The towards the end, he realizes that Christmas means more than presents, its actually about spending quality time with others. HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS

 Setting - Whovillle HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS

 Flashback – the razor reminded the grinch of his bad childhood. HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS

 Foreshowing – “I must find a way to keep Christmas from coming” HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS

 Symbol – The Grinch knows that the Santa Claus suit represents goodness, generosity, joy and most of all Christmas This is why he wears tha outfit while carrying out his plan to stop Christmas. HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS

 Theme – The theme of this story was that Christmas isnt just all about gifts and the food, its actually about spending time with your family and loved ones. HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS

 Suspense – When the Grinch is trying to save all the presents from falling down the mountain. HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS

 Situational irony – The Grinch starts to sing along with the Christmas songs. One expects him to hate everything to do with Christmas. HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS

 This story has many short story elements such as setting, theme, irony, Dynamic character, flashback foreshowing, and suspense. I feel like these are very important parts of short stories and through this artifice I got to have a better understanding of each of them.  Some things that I personally found challenging in the short story unit was easily identifying elements such as symbols,theme and suspense. I tried to improve on these elements by pointing out the things that have been mentioned in the story more than once(for symbols), writing out what is the purpose of the story (for theme), and paying close attention to the rising action and the climax to identify the suspense. REFLECTION
