CONTROL OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER American Farmers like me used the Mississippi River to ship wheat and corn to market.

CONTROL OF THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER We carry wheat and corn to New Orleans on the river in keelboats like this dandy!

Mississippi River Ocean going ships carried produce to ports along the Atlantic coast.
