Things that surprised me Medical students can be just as difficult as unruly adolescents when it comes to learning. Emergency Medicine is a specialized field. Physicians are trained and gain their MD’s as general doctor but then specialize into certain fields. We all know emergency physicians save lives, I was surprised to learn just how often they actually do. One night: 3 back-to-back heart attacks, internal bleeding, hand caught in a lawn mower, etc.
