Agenda New Assessments and Dates Rubrics for Reader’s Response Assessments NISD Writing Frameworks Using Data to plan instruction Grouping for Instruction Grade Level Text Progression Chart Monitoring Student Progress: Netschool Resources

New Assessment Dates  Reader’s Response Assessments -Dec Feb April  Responses are to be analyzed and scored in grade level PLC’s; NOT recorded in AWARE; use data to plan instruction for future reading responses  Rubrics posted in Netschool

Let’s Check Out the New Reader’s Response Rubrics

NISD Narrative and Expository Writing Frameworks Reminders: -All schools are required to introduce and use the new frameworks with all students. If you need to adjust the framework for a small number of students, you may do so. - Kindergarten curriculum introduces the framework in Jan. --We value your feedback. Please keep some notes on how the new frameworks helped students, as well as possible tweaks to make it more user friendly for students.

Data – Zoning In Assessments: Task 4 (CAP) Tasks 5 and 6 (Letter ID) Task 2 (Initial sounds) Task 1 Rhyming Letter Sounds HRSW Text Level Discuss at your table how these assessments help you form group and guide your instruction. *Grouping students handout

Analyzing HRSW Take a few minutes to look at the 2 examples of Hearing and Recording Sounds in Words examples. Discuss at your table:  What does each student know?  How well do they know it?  What is partially known?  What are his/her confusions?  So what????? Now use the Continuum to note what the student has under control.

No counters / Add Letters What’s next? How do I teach hearing and recording sounds? Pictures / No letters

Guided Reading Stages

A Point to Ponder It is just as important to think about how to move your most able readers forward in their thinking/comprehension, as it is your struggling readers.

Text Level Progression Chart for Kindergarten

Progress Monitoring Let’s look on Netschool for Progress Monitoring ideas. Please send any new tools for us to load in Netschool.

Spring PLC * Please experiment with and try-out progress monitoring tools/ideas and plan to come back to Spring 2015 PLC to share your success and struggles. * Please plan to bring examples of student writing using the new narrative and expository frameworks

Please complete your Ticket Out and leave it at your table.
