A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION ON ALESSANDRO VOLTA An Evolution of Technology A Slideshow By: Dayzha Henderson

Alessandro Volta was born in Como, Lombardy, Italy on February 18, 1745 to the parents of Filippo and Maddalena Volta.

As a young boy Volta’s parents thought he was mentally challenged because he didn’t begin to speak until the age of 4. Little did they know, he would create the invention of a lifetime.

Volta was an Italian male who studied physics.

Alessandro Volta studied physics and devised electrophorus in 1775.

Volta then got married to Teresa Peregrini in The couple then had three sons.

All of Volta’s studies helped lead him to inventing the voltaic pile. After the voltaic pile the voltaic battery came.

This is the voltaic pile which Alessandro Volta used to make the battery.

Some things that inspired Alessandro to invent the battery were to prove Galvin’s theory wrong. Galvin’s theory was on animal electricity. Volta wanted to prove him wrong and he did. That is how the voltaic battery came to be.

One tribute that was made to Volta was by Napoleon. Napoleon made Volta a count. A count is when people acknowledge other people of importance. An Emperor of Austria named him professor of philosophy at Padova. Soon after that Volta’s works were published in five volumes in Florence. One of the greatest honors he has gotten was having an electrical unit named in his honor.

On March 5, 1827 Volta died in Como, Lombardy, Italy.

1775 Volta devised the electrophorus, a device that produced a static electric charge he studied the chemistry of gases, discovered methane 1779 he became professor of physics at the University of Pavia 1794 Volta married Teresa Peregrini, daughter of Count Peregrini; the couple had three sons he developed the so-called voltaic pile, a forerunner of the electric battery 1810 In honor of his work in the field of electricity, Napoleon made him a count 1815 the Emperor of Austria named him a professor of philosophy at Padova Volta's works were published in five volumes in Florence 1881 an important electrical unit, the volt, was named in his honor.
