Sometimes lengths are little more or a little less than a whole number of feet. What are some different ways to say these lengths?

3.11 Working with Feet and Inches Is this plant more or less than one foot in height? 1 foot is the same as 12 inches, so this plant is one foot and how many inches? How many inches are left over? 14 inches = 1 foot 2 inches

3.11 Working with Feet and Inches What do you notice about the tape measures we made? The feet are shown by the different colors and each foot is broken into twelve parts of equal size to show 12 inches. How can I use the tape measure to determine the length of an object in the classroom.
