John Gotti Adele Smith

Who was John Gotti? -John Gotti was born October 27, 1940. -He became part of a street gang at the age of twelve in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. -He had a well known limp caused by an attempt to steal a cement mixer, which then crushed his foot. -March 6, 1962 Gotti got married to Victoria DiGiorgio and had five children. He abused his wife, and children regularly.

Childhood -Born in New York City. -Mother, Frannie and father, J. Joesph Gotti were Italian born immigrants. -John was the fifth of the thirteen children. -Aniello Dellacroce became John’s life-long mentor. -In school Gotti was considered a bully until he dropped out at the age of 16. -At 18 the police considered him a low level associate in his gang. -1957-1961 filled his life with crime and arrests that included street fighting, public intoxication, and car theft. By the time he turned 21 he was arrested five times but he served little jail time.

-By 1966 Gotti was put in jail twice. -To supply for his family Gotti had to the jobs as a coat presser in a factory and an assistant to a truck driver. -Then in 1968 he received his first real major sentence, along with two other accomplices when they committed cargo thefts. They were sentenced 3 years in jail by the FBI.
