Rich and Famous!  It will make you feel rich and famous.  Associated with glamour, elegance, and money.

Great Outdoors!  It is associated with nature so it must be healthy.  Gives off the ideal of freedom.

Bandwagon!  Everyone is using it so don’t be left behind.  Makes the product look “cool.”  Uses group settings and peer pressure elements to get message across. Ex.

Free Rewards  Offers great value because you get something for free.  Often redeemable coupons for merchandise.  Seemingly unheard of discounts. Ex. McDonald’s 1988 McDonald’s Olympics

Testimonial  It will allow you to be like the person in the ad.  Utilizes famous people or those with “desirable” traits/qualities.  “Because Brad Pitt likes it, I should like it too.” Ex. Sony – Timberlake & Manning Sony – T&M, 3D Movies

Competitor Bashing  An advertisement that portrays the competition in a negative way.  Hidden message- Don’t use the competitor’s product, use ours instead.  Subway Subway
