Severe punishment? Isn’t the concept of severe or eternal punishing even just punishing against the mercy of God? مَّنِ اهْتَدَى فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدي لِنَفْسِهِ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا وَلاَ تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَى وَمَا كُنَّا مُعَذِّبِينَ حَتَّى نَبْعَثَ رَسُولاً {15} [Shakir 17:15] Whoever goes aright, for his own soul does he go aright; and whoever goes astray, to its detriment only does he go astray: nor can the bearer of a burden bear the burden of another, nor do We chastise until We raise a messenger. Punishment after warning is acceptable by intellectual society. Warning on violations which are easily prevented is acceptable in the intellectual society. Islamic duties can be easily implemented, and if there are circumstances and difficulty in implementing some rules, then there is always room for understanding the circumstances and excuses. Punishment leads to a just society free from criminals and crimes, the more the punishments are implemented the less the rate of crime gets, it is an inverse proportion. A mercy to entire community. So spreading such fear about the punishment creates a disciplinary mentality in the society.

Simple resemblance of JAHANNUM Imagine, what will happen if you: 1.Sit in the desert of Arabia or Nevada, in the mid of summer, with the clear sky, and scorching sun, without any water of fluids for just 5 hours. 2.Sit in the oven of bread for one hour. 3.Sit in the oven of melting the Iron or lead for 10 minutes. These are worldly examples, how if a person is taken into a fire which is of different world, a fire which if a spark of it falls on earth will destroy and perish it, that fire which a person never dies in it, but suffers all the pain, agony, misery, torture, sorrow, and anguish. Such fire which perishes his body and his soul remain alive feeling the pain of perish, and after that his body is created back to go through the same punishment.

Some human are source of the fire in Hell. فَاتَّقُواْ النَّارَ الَّتِي وَقُودُهَا النَّاسُ وَالْحِجَارَةُ أُعِدَّتْ لِلْكَافِرِينَ {24} [Shakir 2:24] ….. then be on your guard against the fire of which men and stones are the fuel; it is prepared for the unbelievers. The wicked one like YAZEED will not just burn in the deepest place in the Hell, but they will be burning in a way that their heat will heat up the upper layers of Hell. Same like the charcoal once it absorbs the heat it becomes the source of heat. The temptation and the evil surrounding us will be converted into Hell, so if we avoid it then we will be avoided from the Hell. وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةٌ بِالْكَافِرِينَ 9:49 and most surely hell encompasses the unbelievers. (conversion of deeds)

More humiliation, fear and terror: The evil doers are told to go to a shelter from the torture, when they run to that area, they find it worse then the punishment they were suffering. When they enter this shade huge fire blazes come out from it, they are so huge like the palace or big yellow camels, they blazes and huge flames absorbs them, and they get the pain more than if they were out of these shades.( these flames are their lies and be lies) انطَلِقُوا إِلَى مَا كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ {29} [Shakir 77:29] Walk on to that which you called a lie. انطَلِقُوا إِلَى ظِلٍّ ذِي ثَلَاثِ شُعَبٍ {30} [Shakir 77:30] Walk on to the covering having three branches, لَا ظَلِيلٍ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنَ اللَّهَبِ {31} [Shakir 77:31] Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. إِنَّهَا تَرْمِي بِشَرَرٍ كَالْقَصْرِ {32} [Shakir 77:32] Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, كَأَنَّهُ جِمَالَتٌ صُفْرٌ {33} [Shakir 77:33] As if they were tawny camels. وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ {34} [Shakir 77:34] Woe on that day to the rejecters.

Humiliation and disgraceful torture: وَمَن يَعْصِ اللّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ وَيَتَعَدَّ حُدُودَهُ يُدْخِلْهُ نَارًا خَالِدًا فِيهَا وَلَهُ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ {14} [Shakir 4:14] And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and goes beyond His limits, He will cause him to enter fire to abide in it, and he shall have an abasing chastisement. الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ وَيَكْتُمُونَ مَا آتَاهُمُ اللّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ وَأَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابًا مُّهِينًا {37} [Shakir 4:37] Those who are niggardly and bid people to be niggardly and hide what Allah has given them out of His grace; and We have prepared for the unbelievers a disgraceful chastisement. وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَشْتَرِي لَهْوَ الْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَيَتَّخِذَهَا هُزُوًا أُولَئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّهِينٌ {6} [Shakir 31:6] And of men is he who takes instead frivolous discourse to lead astray from Allah's path without knowledge, and to take it for a mockery; these shall have an abasing chastisement. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا مُّهِينًا {[Shakir 33:57] Surely (as for) those who speak evil things of Allah and His Messenger, Allah has cursed them in this world and the here after, and He has prepared for them a chastisement bringing disgrace[ Fatima (AS)].

Deception for deception وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ فَسَقُوا فَمَأْوَاهُمُ النَّارُ كُلَّمَا أَرَادُوا أَن يَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا أُعِيدُوا فِيهَا وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ ذُوقُوا عَذَابَ النَّارِ الَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ [Shakir 32:20] And as for those who transgress, their abode is the fire; whenever they desire to go forth from it they shall be brought back into it, and it will be said to them: Taste the chastisement of the fire which you called a lie. (some how they are allowed to think that they may exit the hell fire, but when they try to do so, they are brought back to the punishment, it is a type of humiliation, insult and deception they used to mock the believers in the world. There are many people if they do wrong, God will punish them so them in this world so that they may prevent themselves from the greater punishment and return to Allah. وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُمْ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْأَدْنَى دُونَ الْعَذَابِ الْأَكْبَرِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ [Shakir 32:21] And most certainly We will make them taste of the nearer chastisement before the greater chastisement that haply they may turn.

Deprivation from being close to Allah Metaphysical punishments: If the leader or the father or the husband or a friend ignores his beloved one, it becomes emotionally painful. These people were belittling the religious responsibilities, and mocking the religion, and were blinded by the temptations of this world. وَنَادَى أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ أَصْحَابَ الْجَنَّةِ أَنْ أَفِيضُواْ عَلَيْنَا مِنَ الْمَاء أَوْ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللّهُ قَالُواْ إِنَّ اللّهَ حَرَّمَهُمَا عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ {50} [Shakir 7:50] And the inmates of the fire shall call out to the dwellers of the garden, saying: Pour on us some water or of that which Allah has given you. They shall say: Surely Allah has prohibited them both to the unbelievers. الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُواْ دِينَهُمْ لَهْوًا وَلَعِبًا وَغَرَّتْهُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا فَالْيَوْمَ نَنسَاهُمْ كَمَا نَسُواْ لِقَاء يَوْمِهِمْ هَـذَا وَمَا كَانُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ {51} [Shakir 7:51] Who take their religion for an idle sport and a play and this life's world deceives them; so today We forsake them, as they neglected the meeting of this day of theirs and as they denied Our communications.

Selling the faith for wealth إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ اللّهِ وَأَيْمَانِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلاً أُوْلَـئِكَ لاَ خَلاَقَ لَهُمْ فِي الآخِرَةِ وَلاَ يُكَلِّمُهُمُ اللّهُ وَلاَ يَنظُرُ إِلَيْهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلاَ يُزَكِّيهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ {77} [Shakir 3:77] (As for) those who take a small price for the covenant of Allah and their own oaths-- surely they shall have no portion in the hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them, nor will He look upon them on the day of resurrection nor will He purify them, and they shall have a painful chastisement. وَإِنَّ مِنْهُمْ لَفَرِيقًا يَلْوُونَ أَلْسِنَتَهُم بِالْكِتَابِ لِتَحْسَبُوهُ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ اللّهِ وَمَا هُوَ مِنْ عِندِ اللّهِ وَيَقُولُونَ عَلَى اللّهِ الْكَذِبَ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ {78} [Shakir 3:78] Most surely there is a party amongst those who distort the Book with their tongue that you may consider it to be (a part) of the Book, and they say, It is from Allah, while it is not from Allah, and they tell a lie against Allah whilst they know.

Few causes for JAHANNUM: وَلاَ تَرْكَنُواْ إِلَى الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ فَتَمَسَّكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اللّهِ مِنْ أَوْلِيَاء ثُمَّ لاَ تُنصَرُونَ {113} [Shakir 11:113] And do not incline to those who are unjust, lest the fire touch you, and you have no guardians besides Allah, then you shall not be helped. فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُصَلِّينَ {4} [Shakir 107:4] So woe to the praying ones, الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَن صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُونَ {5} [Shakir 107:5] Who are unmindful of their prayers, الَّذِينَ هُمْ يُرَاؤُونَ {6} [Shakir 107:6] Who do (good) to be seen, وَيَمْنَعُونَ الْمَاعُونَ {7} [Shakir 107:7] And withhold the necessaries of life. Delay in offering the Salaat leads to deep place in the Hell, the Shias are known by offering the Salaat in time.

Usury or REBA or unlawful interest: الَّذِينَ يَأْكُلُونَ الرِّبَا لاَ يَقُومُونَ إِلاَّ كَمَا يَقُومُ الَّذِي يَتَخَبَّطُهُ الشَّيْطَانُ مِنَ الْمَسِّ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُواْ إِنَّمَا الْبَيْعُ مِثْلُ الرِّبَا وَأَحَلَّ اللّهُ الْبَيْعَ وَحَرَّمَ الرِّبَا فَمَن جَاءهُ مَوْعِظَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِ فَانتَهَىَ فَلَهُ مَا سَلَفَ وَأَمْرُهُ إِلَى اللّهِ وَمَنْ عَادَ فَأُوْلَـئِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ {275} [Shakir 2:275] Those who swallow down usury cannot arise except as one whom Shaitan has prostrated by (his) touch does rise. That is because they say, trading is only like usury; and Allah has allowed trading and forbidden usury. To whomsoever then the admonition has come from his Lord, then he desists, he shall have what has already passed, and his affair is in the hands of Allah; and whoever returns (to it)-- these arc the inmates of the fire; they shall abide in it. يَمْحَقُ اللّهُ الْرِّبَا وَيُرْبِي الصَّدَقَاتِ وَاللّهُ لاَ يُحِبُّ كُلَّ كَفَّارٍ أَثِيمٍ {276} [Shakir 2:276] Allah does not bless usury, and He causes charitable deeds to prosper, and Allah does not love any ungrateful sinner.
