I wish I knew God's will

...you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law - Romans 2:17-18

God wants to be known

Projection vs. Discovery

God wants to be known And as he is known He is positioned to lead

You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart - Jeremiah 29:13

God is more interested In relationship with you Than direction for you

Millenia= law and prophets Culminating in… The Cross= Relationship

If you seek God's will Outside of seeking Jesus You'll find neither

If you seek Jesus You'll find God And his will for you

3 Things: Heart Hands Feet

Heart: Pledged to the King My affections, desires= God first

Heart: Pledged to the King Why?

Heart: Pledged to the King Only King in History…

God wants more for us Than we want For ourselves

God knows us better than We know ourselves

God "remembers" the future

We have at least 3 choices: - Go right - Go left

We have at least 3 choices: - Go right - Go left - Seek God for which way to go

Most decisions: Emotion Desire Intellect

People make decisions based on emotions: Hurt feelings, Anger React rather than being led

They move jobs Enter relationships Make major purchases Because they feel excited or want something new

They pray, "If this is OK, God...I want it" And refuse to listen if he says different Then claim God led them

Or: Plot it out On graph paper With pluses and minuses

God wants more "All who are led by the Spirit Are the children of God" - Romans 8:14

God loves you more Knows you better And wants to lead you

One of the ways You know you belong to God Is that you are led By God

To hear God's voice Heart= Pledged to the King - Because I believe he knows it all - Because I trust that he is good - Because I know his ways are greater

I seek God For major decisions

Easy to do in theory

Easy to do in theory 200k job?

God wants more for us than We want for ourselves

God knows us better than We know ourselves

God knows more about How we should live than we do

Heart= Pledged to the King Means I trust God even when I want something different And it doesn't make sense

Here's why I need a Heart= Pledged to the King…

If I believe my ways are best I'll take what God says And weigh it against how bad I want What I want

And I'll pray with my desires coloring my ability to hear from my God

If you believe God wants more That he knows better It'll be seen in how you make decisions

Seek first the Kingdom of God And his righteousness And all these things Will be added to you - Jesus, Matthew 6

Ask God with no agenda Trust as he leads Believe his ways are better
