Baby Carlos Carlos was born into a family with a long history involving music.

Birth Carlos Augusto Alves Santana was born on July 20 th, His birthplace is Autlán de Navarro, Jalisco, Mexico. His father is José Santana and his mother is Deborah Santana.

Early Years At age 8 Carlos Santana began to play the guitar. He graduated from Mission High in In 1966 Carlos formed the Santana Blues Band with David Brown and Gregg Rolie. There band soon became known as Santana.

1969 In 1969 the band played in Woodstock. Their performance led to a recording contract with Columbia Records. Santana was signed by CBS Records they went into studio to record there first album.

1970 Santana’s first album named “Santana” was a huge hit and reached #4 on the U.S. album charts. Their second album in 1970, “Abraxas” reached #1 on the charts. Abraxas sold over 40 million copies.

1972 In January 1972 Santana played in Hawaii’s Diamond Head Crater which was recorded as a live album. The album was erratic and uneven. It managed to still achieve gold record status.

1973 Carlos Santana obtained legal rights to the band’s name. Santana recorded “Welcome” which further reflected Santana's interests in jazz fusion. Carlos Santana had a spiritual guru Sri Chinmoy who accepted them as disciples.
