 Date founded: 1638  Founded by: John Wheelwright  How it got its name: mason the owner was from Hampshire colony so he named it new Hampshire  Southern, middle, or new England colony: new England colony  Population in 1775: 81,050 people  Date of statehood: june 21, 1788 

New Hampshire was nicknamed the granite state for all the granite rock in the area. Some of new Hampshire’s major industries were growing potatoes, tobacco, and fishing. Their agricultural products were flour, corn, wheat. That’s a whole meal for the people back then. Yes, you think that wouldn’t feed us. Now, we eat twice that much! 

 Their natural resources were cows that produce meat, corn that grows in a field. Now we can just go to the store and buy corn without growing it ourselves. People living in the new Hampshire colony religion was puritan. Concord and Hampton are two major cities in new Hampshire. People living in new Hampshire would eat wild turkey, moose, deer, pennacooks, and piscataquas. They would wear clothing called bleeches. Kids living in new Hampshire would not go to school because new Hampshire did not have any schools.

 One of new Hampshire’s recipes is 2 and 1 half cups of dried yellow eyed beans, 2 cups of barbeque sauce, 3 fourths of a cup of brown sugar, 1 half cup of molasses, 1 tablespoon of prepared yellow mustard, 1 half teaspoon of freshlyground black pepper, 1 teaspoon of ground ginger, 2 teaspoons of salt, 8 dried ancho chile pepper, 3 fourths of a pound of salt pork scored deeply with a knife.  (Dried yellow chile) 

 In 1775 the money was made out of paper. Kids living in new Hampshire would have to do work like, farming and preparing food for dinner. They would also take care of younger siblings. It’s much easier to do that now because we have all the electronic devices. new Hampshire was the only state that was not involved in the revolutionary war. That means if you come to new Hampshire you will not have to worry about much fighting.
