Teachers should encourage each of the following:  Recite Rhymes  Singing Rhymes  Clapping Rhymes  Acting out Rhymes  Reading Rhyming Books NOTE: A great indicator of how well children will learn to read is their ability to recite Rhymes when they enter Kindergarten
