Photosynthesis Photosynthesis

Objectives What does photosynthesis mean. How can plants survive; [ Video, Food for plants and A breathe of fresh air ]. Interesting facts. Leaves structure. Check how did you imagine the leaves (REAL PICTURES). Have some fun *_^ !

What is photosynthesis? Process plants use to make their own food Plants’ leaves contain chlorophyll Chlorophyll (green color) makes photosynthesis possible

Let’s watch this movie

The chlorophyll absorbs the sunlight.

The sunlight is combined with water, Carbon Dioxide and nutrients from the soil. CO 2

O2O2

Plants and animals need each other to survive.

Animals including humans make the CO 2 (carbon dioxide) plants need. They (the plants) make the O 2 (oxygen) and food we need.

Interesting facts of plants There is an amazing plant from Southern Africa called Welwitschia mirabilis or Tree Tumbo, some of which are nearly 1,000 years old. It only ever has two leaves! Each leaf can be over 8m (27ft) long. The largest leaves grow on the Amazon water lily. In a single year the plant will produce leaves of more than 2m (6.6ft) across.

Let’s know more about photosynthesis

The structure of the chloroplast and photosynthetic membranes: The thylakoid is the structural unit of photosynthesis.thylakoid Thylakoids are stacked like pancakes in stacks known collectively as grana. grana The areas between grana are referred to as stroma.stroma

Check your vivid imagination !
