MEET YOUR TEACHER Good evening I’m Mrs. Roy Welcome to First Grade

Mrs. Roy A few things about me and my family.

Very Important Before you leave tonight I need to know if your child is a bus rider or car rider. I need to know the bus number and drivers name. I need to know who is picking up student.

Mom and Dad’s Homework Please read and complete all papers in the folder you are taking home to night. Let’s take a minute to go over what is in the folder. Please return completed forms in folder to teacher ASAP.

Be on Time Children can arrive at school no earlier than 7:30. Children are marked tardy if they are not in the classroom by 7:45. Please don’t use mornings as conference times. It makes us start our day late. Afternoon pick up begins at 2:50.

Changes in departure If you are going to change how your child departs it must be in writing. The note is turned into the office. The nurse checks the change and then the office checks to make sure it is someone that can pick up your child. Never call, text, or me to change a departure. Don’t wait until the end of the day to change a departure. You may not be able to get through on the phone lines

Lunch Please put all lunch money in an envelope with the child’s name, teacher’s name, and lunch number. I encourage you to pay by the week or month. Please send items for lunch that the children can open. Your child must know their lunch number. Even if they don’t buy their lunch they must know the number for AR testing and computer lab tests. Children can not use microwaves. Breakfast cost $1.00; lunch cost $2.00

Snack Please send a snack everyday. We do have snack machines but sometimes the machines don’t work. Cost: drinks $1.25 snacks.65 to.85 Please think about a healthy snack.

Daily Folder Let’s look at a daily folder: homework (initial every night) reading=Mon-Thurs math= I try to send home on Mondays Complete any papers that are not finished in class Special notes (animal shows, special snacks…) Reading Log (complete every night) Behavior Calendar (initial everyday) Check all papers in folder. Be on the look out for papers with sticky notes or comments at the top. Send AR book to school everyday

Always send a note in the event your child is absent….. Please send an excuse for an absence within 3 days Notes on absences are turned into the office. Any notes about absences are from the office not me. Remember, it has to be an excused absence Always remember to get a note from your doctor and dentist. Worked missed will be placed in the daily folder upon child’s return. Complete these papers and return to teacher.

Vocabulary Words There are Kindergarten vocabulary words coming home in the daily folder. Children must be able to recognize words in 3 seconds. Make sure you study words out of order. After Kindergarten review the children will have 10 words every week. Spelling will start in about 2 weeks. The children will write these words from memory. We will have 2 weeks of Kindergarten review in all subjects then we will begin the first grade curriculum.

Conferences Please do not come in the mornings to conference. It makes us start our day late and I am ready to begin at 7:30. If you have a question me at or place a note in your child’s Please do not come in the afternoons to conference. Departure is a very busy time trying to gather backpack, folder, conduct, AR books… If you feel a conference is needed please don’t hesitate to call the office and we will set up a conference during my prep time at 11:45.

Parent Volunteers I love parent volunteers! Please let me know if you can volunteer to help during the school day, do projects at home, … I will use the first month to organize and get to know the children and then we will be ready for volunteers.

Conduct Move Monkeys = 5 points off conduct ex. Monday 1 move, Tuesday, Wednesday 2 moves, Thursday, Friday 1 move Weekly Conduct Grade is 80 Documented on Conduct Calendar in Daily Folder Treasure box, sticker on calendar

Early Departure In the event of inclement weather, please monitor your local stations. You should be prepared for your child’s early release from school if it becomes necessary. I can not make personal calls to everyone to make sure that you know. The county has an “all call” that they send out county wide.

Classroom Supplies Each student should have a crayon box with crayons, scissors and glue at their desk

Water Bottles I encourage you to purchase your child a water bottle. They may keep this on their desk.

Class Dojo A great new way to motivate good behavior!!!!
