Before We Get Started… Discussion Prep Please rank your preference for the following discussion questions: –1. How was the "family" a battleground in the Women's Rights Movement? In other words, to what degree did both sides of the movement claim the best interest of the family as a means of legitimating their cause? –2. How were sex and sexuality used as a means of female liberation in the Women's Rights Movement? –3. What was the most significant gain of the Women's Rights Movement and why? –4. What role did war have on the Women's Rights Movement? Think about the Civil War, World War One, and World War Two.

Contemporary Issues in Modern Day Feminism Today we will close our unit on the Women’s Experience in American History by learning about contemporary issues facing modern day women. Tasks: –Group Work: Your group will be given an issue of Ms. Magazine Peruse the issue, reading any and all articles, editorials, advertisements, etc. that you wish. Discuss with your group: –What are the current issues facing modern women? –What does the modern feminist movement look like? –Whole Class Discussion: We will discuss what you learned in your groups!
