Knight in Shining Armour Damsel in Distress Explained

Lancelot was a Knight literally in shining armour. He rescued women from the arms of dragons.

The BIRTH of the KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR is born!

A KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR is someone who helps you when you are in a difficult situation. She looked around the bar to see if there was a knight in shining armour who might come and save her from this awful man.

The damsel in distress is a character of fiction. She is almost inevitably a young, noble woman, who has been placed in a dire predicament by a villain or a monster and who requires a hero (knight in shining armour) to dash to her rescue.

Maid Marian was a Damsel in Distress. She was being forced to marry the evil Sheriff of Nottingham.

Robin Hood was maid Marian’s knight in shining armour. Not literally- he rescued her (without the armour!).
