Section 6.4 Ax+By=C Form

The slope –intercept form is just one form of a linear equation. Another form is Ax+By =C This form is useful in making quick sketches.

To make a quick graph you need to find the x and y intercepts. X intercept (x, 0) Y intercept (0, y)

Example 3x + 4y = 8

Try 5x +2y = -10

Let: Let = the hours mowing lawns. Let = the hours delivering newspapers. x y Write an equation in standard form to find the number of hours you would need to work at each job to make a total of $130.
