Background Clinical Practice Series developed to provide promotion pathway for faculty to reward service to patients but does not require scholarship. Clinical Practice Series approved by SOM Executive Faculty and Board of Regents in 2012
Clinical Practice Series Faculty members who focus on direct patient care Available ranks: Associate Professor of Clinical Practice and Professor of Clinical Practice Criteria: – excellence in clinical care – at least meritorious teaching – at least local or regional reputation (national or international reputation for Professor level) – Professor level: must demonstrate either excellence in teaching or evidence of leadership projects 3
Dossier Review ( ) 171 total appointment, promotion and tenure dossiers reviewed in dossiers (7%) were reviewed for appointment or promotion in the Clinical Practice Series – 8 appointment or promotion to Associate Professor of Clinical Practice – 4 appointment or promotion to Professor of Clinical Practice – 11 of 12 dossiers approved (92%) 1 dossier tabled and ultimately approved in – Note: 4 of the 12 dossiers were originally submitted for approval in the regular series and were disapproved or tabled, then ultimately reviewed in Clinical Practice series 4
