Walking away by Vanessa Brown Diamond B

I'm tired of dreaming. I'm through with trying. Tired of living, yet scared of dying. Maybe things are good for you, but look at all that I've been through. Look at all the pain I've won. I bet you think that it's been fun. You never thought I'd turn away. You never believed you'd see this day. Look again cause here I go leaving behind all I know. Changing it all as I must do. Not daring to stop and think things through. Wanting to run as fast as I can, not stopping until I understand. Like why did I let things get this way? Why didn't I leave yesterday? How are things going to be, since there is no more you and me.

What kind of Poem is This? This poem, to me, is a ballad because its obviously a tragedy. We also don’t know what exactly caused the speaker to walk away. We just know that apparently they are tired of trying with their lover.

Meaning of Poem? The speaker is tired of living the life they live. They want to change. They want to grow as a person and the first step is to leave the person they are with.

Metaphorical Meaning? Everyone wants to change somehow and someway. They are, in this case, tired of living how they live or perhaps they want some more excitement in their life.

Theme If you don’t like it, change it.

Literary Devices Used? The rhyme scheme was: A,BB, CC, DD, EE and so on. In other words, every line rhymed except the very first line.

Why I Selected This Poem? I was looking for a poem that was talking about break ups and moving on. This was the first one that caught my eye and it was a very good poem.
