Warm-Up Get a workbook off the counter. Pick a partner. Get one worksheet per pair, and one die per pair. They are located on the table near the door. DO NOT START ON WORKSHEET Also only get out one pencil per pair. DO NOT GET A CALCULATOR!!

Dice Rolls One partner has one half of the sheet. The other partner completes the other half of the sheet. While one partner is completing problems the other partner is trying to roll a two. When you roll a two you tell your partner to stop, and you switch rolls. The first person to complete in the class gets a piece of candy. African Tribal Drums

Bucky The Badger No Calculator.

Restate the Bucky Question. How many pushups Bucky had to do over the entire game.

Write down a number of pushups you know is too high. Too low.

What further information would you need to know the exact number of pushups?

If you’re Bucky, would you rather your team score field goals at the start of the game or end?

Consider this [7, 7, 3] and then [7, 3, 7] — the same scores in different sequence Or even this, [7, 3] and [3, 7]

What are some numbers of pushups that Bucky will never do in any game?

In your group based on the game card given to you please try to identify the amount of total pushups Bucky would have had to complete?

Now look at page 73 in your workbook Now look at page 73 in your workbook. With your group please complete the given problems without a calculator.

Felicia’s Drive

As Felicia gets on the freeway to drive to her cousin’s house, she notices that she is a little low on gas. There is a gas station at the exit she normally takes, and she wonders if she will have to get gas before then. She normally sets her cruise control at the speed limit of 70mph and the freeway portion of the drive takes about an hour and 15 minutes. Her car gets about 30 miles per gallon on the freeway, and gas costs $3.50 per gallon.

Describe an estimate that Felicia might do in her head while driving to decide how many gallons of gas she needs to make it to the gas station at the other end. ****Hint keep in mind when you are driving it is not reasonable for you to say you will need exactly 2.92 gallons

Assuming she makes it, how much does Felicia spend per mile on the freeway?

Things to remember when making estimates: Pay attention to units. Think of using all properties of operations.

Properties By the Pound

Now in Groups Let x denote the number of touchdowns Wisconsin scored in a game. Assuming the Wisconsin football team only scores touchdowns, write an algebraic expression to represent the total number of pushups Bucky must do in a game in which x touchdowns are scored.
