Why is Citation important?

The Importance of Citation The Internet has opened up a multitude of opportunities for people to “borrow” music, video and literature. But “copying” the works of others is not a new idea…specifically in the area of literature.

Why is plagiarism wrong?

The Importance of Citation Plagiarism takes its name from the Latin word “plagiarius”, which means “kidnapper”. (American Heritage Dictionary, 2000)

The Importance of Citation It is believed that this word was first used in this manner by the Roman poet Martial, who, in the first century AD, accused others of stealing his work for their own personal gain.

Why Do We Cite our Sources?

The Importance of Citation Citation rules provide scholars with a safe and accepted way of presenting research findings. They also provide you with a way to give credit where credit is due.

The Importance of Citation Citation illustrates your ability to support your original theories and ideas with evidence based in research. Citation also protects your hard work from theft by others.

The Importance of Citation Once you have created a document, it is protected by copyright which entitles you to certain protections under copyright law.

The Importance of Citation If someone decides to use your work in one of their writings, they must give YOU credit through proper citation. Have you ever had an idea used without your permission?

AcronymsAcronyms Now, let’s discuss the initials and what they mean…. Does anyone know the names for APA, MLA, AMA, ASA?
