It concerns : The value of the diploma in France (35% of actives are unqualified) which promotes professional mobility, that is the best weapon against unemployment and encourages womens employment.

A right currently registered in Book IX of the Labour Regulations and in the Education Code An instrument enabling abilities acquired from experience to be recognized. The diploma obtained by the VAE has the same value and the same dignity as a diploma obtained by the training path A procedure of testing the candidates knowledge, abilities and competences by the diploma jury, which includes professionals.

Délégation à lemploi et aux formations 10 VALIDATION OF NON-FORMAL LEARNING IN THE FIELDS OF YOUTH AND SPORTS Which diplomas are concerned? les brevets dEtat déducateur sportif des 1er et 2 degrés (sports educator) et le brevet dEtat dalpinisme (climbing) In the fields of youth and sports, the diplomas concerned are : le brevet daptitude professionnelle dassistant animateur technicien (technician leaders assistant) le brevet dEtat danimateur technicien de léducation populaire et de la jeunesse (technician leader of community education and youth) le brevet professionel de la jeunesse, de léducation populaire et du sport (youth, community education and sport)

Délégation à lemploi et aux formations 11 The conditions required in order to obtain a diploma through the VAE? The involvement in salaried, unsalaried or voluntary activities must be significant: the reference retained is an hourly volume equivalent to 2400 hours on a minimum of 36 months accumulated. The periods of work experience scheme done as part of initial or continuous training (notably apprenticeship contract, block- release contract or vocational training course) are not considered. Délégation à lemploi et aux formations 12 The conditions required in order to obtain a diploma through the VAE? The validation jury determines the allocation of the diploma. In the case of a partial validation, the candidate must obtain the whole diploma within 5 years. The candidate will have to re- present his file in front of the jury for a supplementary assessment. Some diplomas or parts of diploma might be excluded from the areas application of the law for reasons related to the professional activities that are being prepared by those diplomas. A decree of the Council of State will determine, for physical or sports activities done in a specific environment, the particular conditions and modalities of validation of non-formal learning. Only one request by diploma and calendar year can be submitted up to 3 different diplomas per year. The candidate can benefit from a support to describe and analyze his experience the candidate or the jury can ask for a supplementary interview in addition to the file.
