ALTERNATIVE PROGRAMS  Project Graduation—offers computer based instruction for students who have not made adequate academic progress in the traditional school setting. 3 hours/day, 5 days/week (mornings)  Night School—same as Project Graduation except hours are 4:30-8:30 p.m. 4 days/week  Performance Learning Center (PLC)—offers computer based courses and enrichment assignments for students who struggle in a traditional school setting.  Must have referral from counselor and interview with program supervisor.

CREDIT RECOVERY  Used for students who do not pass a class or special situation where they are behind in meeting graduation requirements, i.e., transfer student.  On-line classes taken during the regular school day at Chapel Hill High School.  Can and should work at home through the internet.  Make up only for courses required for graduation.

CCI  Registration is taking place now. See Ms. Walker-Harry in the career center.  CCI course offerings are Automotive, Computer Design, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Culinary Arts, Dental Assisting, Early Childhood Development, Game Development, Healthcare, HVAC, Pharmacy, Graphic Arts, Video Production, Welding.

Move on When Ready (MOWR)  Open to any grade level.  Provide SAT or ACT scores.  Complete the college’s MOWR application by the deadline.  Complete a HOPE grant application online at  If approved you will then register for courses with your MOWR college advisor and talk to your counselor here at CHHS.  Complete paperwork for college & high school.

Looking at Options for Post-Secondary Study  Four-year Colleges and Universities many majors offered leading to undergraduate degrees  Two-year Colleges offer freshman and sophomore level classes toward an associate degree and/or transfer to a 4-year school  Technical Colleges certificate, diploma and 2- year degree programs leading directly to employment upon completion of specialized training and/or transfer to a 4-year school  Special Purpose Schools focus on specific fields such as the arts or medical specialties

OTHER TESTING ACT or SAT  How did I do on the PSAT?  How did I do on the ASPIRE?  Am I a logical and/or analytical thinker?  Do I remember facts & figures well?  Students should talk to their counselor to determine which test might be best.  See handout for further comparisons.  SAT has new format beginning March 2016.

Scholarship Information Scholarships are posted in the CHHS Career Center. Hard copies of most non-institutional scholarships are available in the College & Career Center. Don’t forget to check with any local organizations, banks, employers, credit unions, and insurance companies. You can start applying for some scholarships your Junior year.  Large database of scholarship information, awards available for academic achievement, special skills and talents, and/or financial need Remember – you should never pay for scholarship searches or information!

NCAA Eligibility Center  Juniors who intend to play division 1 or division 2 college level sports should register this year with the NCAA  The website is There is a link for prospective student-athletes (includes frequently asked questions)  Review the “Eligibility Standards”  Registration cost is $75.00 (fee waivers available)  ACT/SAT scores must be sent directly to the eligibility center– the code is 9999  High School transcript must also be sent to the eligibility center.
