Presentation transcript:

 Understanding the way scientists talk when they make a claim  Looking at parts of a scientific argument during a game ◦ Each game is broken up into stages, or “Pit Stops” ◦ Each Pit Stop is a part of a scientific argument

Once you have logged in, you will see a list of the games your teacher has assigned for you to play. If your teacher has told you to play a specific game, click that one.

First, click “Start” Then, enter your name and click “Continue” Your teacher may want you to use your real name. If not, choose an awesome nickname!

If someone has already started a game, you can click “Join” to join them Or if your teacher tells you, click “Create Game” to start a game for people to join

Wait until everyone is ready before you click “Start”! Psst! While you are waiting, you can click your car to change the color!

Some games will have a video that plays before the game starts. This video will introduce a new concept or idea, so pay attention! (Some of them are kind of funny, too.) Once the video is over, the game will start, so be ready to drive!

You drive your car using the arrow keys (Psst! If you prefer to play lefty, you can use the WASD keys, instead.) If you get questions right, your car will get a speed boost… …but getting them wrong will put on the brakes!

For the final discussion activity, you can see what your classmates decided about the claim. If they show good scientific thinking, you can give them a thumbs up. Save the thumbs down for if they don’t make sense. You can leave a comment about their decision, if you want. You get points for making comments, and for earning thumbs up from your classmates. So think about your responses and make careful comments.

 If your teacher wants to talk about the game, you should stop and participate.  Otherwise, go ahead and go back and play again. Choose the same game to practice with the same content, or pick a different scenario to learn a bunch of new stuff.
