EDAC/ OceanNOMADS Task Purpose Accelerate transition of NGI Developmental OceanNOMADS to NOAA NCDDC OceanNOMADS

EDAC/ OceanNOMADS What is it? NOMADS : NOAA National Weather Service Operational Model Archive and Distribution System – provides both real-time and archived atmospheric model output from servers at NCEP and NCDC respectively – Ecosystem Data Assembly Center (EDAC): NOAA NCDDC/NGI Developmental Data Portal for Ecosystem Related Data OceanNOMADS: NOAA NCDDC developmental ocean forecast system analog to archival portion of NOMADS (subset of EDAC) – OpenDAP enabled – Navy Operational Global NCOM nocast /forecast subsets archives currently being transferred to NCDDC operational servers

EDAC/ OceanNOMADS Task Progress NRL Inter-America Seas Nowcast/Forecast System over the Gulf of Mexico – present Pre-operational Navy AMSEAS – 25 June 2010 to present Operational Navy regional USEast ocean nowcast/forecast system – 17 Jan 2011 to present (Relevant to SURA Estuarine Hypoxia Effort) EDAC/OceanNOMADS developmental server now includes:

EDAC/ OceanNOMADS Task Plans Implement EDAC/ OceanNOMADS web interface redesign NRL Inter-America Seas Nowcast/Forecast System over the Gulf of Mexico – Continue archival until NCDDC operational OceanNOMADS prepared Pre-operational AMSEAS – Continue archival until system operational – Continue archival until NCDDC operational OceanNOMADS prepared Operational Naval Oceanographic Office regional USEast ocean nowcast/forecast system – Include historical files back to USEast inception in 2009 – Continue archival until NCDDC operational OceanNOMADS prepared
