Landforms 1 Did you know that the snow-capped Rocky Mountains stretch 3,000 miles from Alaska all the way to New Mexico? The Rocky Mountains run through Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. This is important to this region because every waterway on the right empties into the Atlantic Ocean and every waterway on the left empties into the Pacific Ocean.

Landforms 2 You would say that Alaska is so cold that it doesn’t have any volcanoes? In fact Alaska has over 100 volcanoes!

Water Ways Also Bear River begins 13,000 feet in the mountains of Utah. This river empties into the Great Salt Lake in the Northern Utah. Another water way is the Crater Lake is the deepest River in the west found in Oregon. This lake is special because usually lakes empty into the ocean, however this lake empties into the Great Salt Lakes.

Landmarks 1 The General Sherman Tree is the tallest tree in the world. It is 3 to 4 thousand years old. This tree is 368 feet tall. You can find this tree in California.

Landmarks 2 Did you know that Mount McKinley is 20,320 feet tall? Also Mount McKinley is the tallest mountain in North America.

Extras Did you know that Denver can be called Mile High City because the Rocky Mountains are so tall? Did you know in California there was a gold rush and that is why everybody started to go there? Also after the gold rush everybody started to leave to find more gold!

Historic Sites The Oregon Trail is a famous trail that lots of Native Americans used to ride on. This trail is important because the trail is still being used today. Also the campo Trail.
