What is sign language? What does an interpreter do? The language of the hearing and/or speech impaired Sign language is different in every language. Uses body language, manual communication Receives a message in one language and relays it as accurately as possible just as any interpreter.

Types of sign languages Deaf sign languages Auxiliary sign languages Signed modes of spoken languages

Where can interpreters work? TV stations Public institutions Education Freelancers: occasional jobs, e.g.: police interrogation, wedding, business meetings, etc. Same salary as other interpreters in Hungary appr. £ 42,420/year – in the UK

Training/Studies 1 Hungary Basic level: 60-90 hours course , 1,000 signs Level B2: after 1,000 more hours you qualify as a professional Have to have a high school matura exam
