Assisted Fertility Treatments 2011–2012 Preliminary data indicate that the number of started assisted fertility treatment cycles have taken a clear downward turn in The number of treatment cycles started in 2012 was down by 5 per cent on The total number of treatment cycles started in 2011 came to nearly , while the total was just under in 2012, according to preliminary data. One explanation for the decrease in the number of treatment cycles is the drop in the number of treatments using non-donor gametes. The number of IVF treatments (including ICSI and FET) using donor sperm continued to grow. The 2007 Act on Assisted Fertility Treatments does not seem to have resulted in any long-term decrease in the number treatments using donor gametes. The assisted fertility treatments performed in 2011 resulted in a total of 3149 pregnancies, and 2536 infants were born as a result. This is 4.2 per cent of all children born in Statistical Report 13/2013www.thl.fi/statistics/ivftreatments 22/02/20162
