T YPES OF GRAPHS Pie chart: shows how a whole is divided into percents

Line graph: Shows trends in data over time.

Scatter plot: used to determine if two variables are related

Bar graph: compares groups of information

R ECOGNIZING P ATTERNS IN G RAPHS In a direct relationship, when one variable increases, so does the other.

In an inverse relationship, when one variable increases, the other decreases.

When there is no relationship the graph looks like a collection of dots.
