This product was discovered near Jamestown and helped ensure its wealth and success.

What is Tobacco?

This soldier and adventurer helped bring order to Jamestown when it was first struggling.

Who was John Smith?

This ruler declared Jamestown a royal colony and took away its right to local government.

Who was James I?

This ruler was in power when England began colonizing America.

Who was Elizabeth I?

This group of dissenters fled England and moved to Holland in the early 1600s. (They separated themselves from England.)

Who are the Separatists?

The name the group of dissenters became known as once they moved to Holland.

What is The Pilgrims?

This group also came to Massachusetts in 1620 and founded the city of Boston.

This group spoke out against religious intolerance in New England and were sometimes killed for it.
