Ms. Plemons Functional Academic Classroom Kindergarten – Second Grade

Ms. Plemons’ Academic Beliefs In my classroom, we will focus on skills that will hopefully lead your child down the right path to accomplish the following expectations prior to leaving the public school system: All students will learn to read. All students will learn to advocate for themselves. All students will learn effective communication skills. All students will strive to be independent in all areas. All students will develop appropriate social skills.

Breakfast at School If your child is going to eat breakfast at school, please let me know tonight. Please be aware that if your child is going to eat breakfast at school, he or she may only have a few minutes to eat. Our Adapted P.E. class will most likely begin at 8:00am. If the bus does not deliver your child to school until 7:45, they will only have a few minutes to eat before we need to begin our school day.

Tonight! Please complete the pages on your child's desk for me. Please make sure I am aware of any allergies, health concerns, or safety issues that your child may have. The classroom is still a “work in progress”. When students arrive on Tuesday, they will each have an individual daily schedule in place. Also, desks will be raised or lowered to meet the needs of each student.

Calendar Folder Every child has a Calendar Folder on his or her desk. This folder will be sent home each day and should return to school the following morning. Each day, I will send home a Daily Behavior Chart in this folder, as well as any other information you need to be aware of. This folder will also contain a Daily Homework Sheet that should be signed and returned to school each day. Please take this folder home tonight and complete all of the Student Information forms located inside. Please return the folder to school with your child on Tuesday with the completed forms inside.
