Main character, Eric, goes to spend his Christmas break with his Grandmother. Eric and his Grandmother go shopping and together make a traditional Spanish dish. Later, they visit the museum and view some paintings, one that leaves a lasting impression in Eric's mind.

Eric Velasquez was born in Spanish Harlem, where he grew up. Velasquez was born to Afro- Puerto Rican parents. Growing up living in New York City, Velasquez experienced dual cultures. Velasquez loved doodling growing up, which was encouraged by his mother and he attended the high school of Art and Design. Eric Velasquez currently lives and works in Hartsdale, New York. Velasquez one of his favorite books that he has written and illustrated is “Liberty Street”.
