Major events of Hercules 1. Birth in Thebes -conceived by Alcmena and Zeus -known as son of Amphitryon, a distinguished general, but really the son of Zeus -mother, Alcmena, bore both Hercules to Zeus and Iphicles to Amphitryon 2.Infancy -Both babies were sound asleep until snakes crawled into their nursery. -The children woke up, Iphicles screamed and cried and Hercules took the creature by the throat and twisted the neck and killed them instantly. 3. Killed his wife and kids in madness because Hera cursed him with it
Megara and The Madness One night when Hercules was with his wife and kids, Hera cast a spell on him and that would make him go crazy. Later that night he killed his wife and kids and when he came to, he didn’t know what had happened. But Theseus saw it all and explained to Hercules what had happened. He later went to Delphi to see how he could make up for it.

Won a wrestling match with Death and brought Admetus his wife back because he felt bad he was a guest at someone's home during a funeral
Admetus, Alcestis, & The Underworld Admetus: The king of Thessaly, a place that was deep mourning and dark. Admetus did not treat people nice at all. He was waiting for Hercules arrival, he came to meet him with no appearance except in his dress. Let Hercules stay and dine in his home and no where else. Alcestis: The wife of Admetus but died due to Apollo anger toward Zeus. She offered to die for Admetus, but he did feel very sorry for her death. The servants looked up to her as their Queen. The Underworld: She was dead and controlled the underworld. This was the place you went after your death and you were kept in prayers to be safe.
Examples of Stupidity -Hercules killed Eurytus’s son -Killed his teacher -Accidentally killed someone for spilling water on him
Achelous & Deianira Achelous: Hercules and the river god, Achelous, continuously fought because they were both in love with the same girl. Achelous did not want to fight but Hercules believed he could beat anyone. Achelous came to fight with bulls but Hercules just came and fought back by breaking one of the horns. Deianira: A young princess, being fought over but won by Hercules and married him. She was the daughter of King Laomedon, she cheated on Apollo and Poseidon after Zeus made the command to build the walls of Troy. Therefore, Hercules captured the city and killed the king.
Other Adventures and Mishaps Hercules wants Deianira to marry him but Achelous wanted to as well Nessus tries to rape Deianira but Hercules shoots an arrow at him and causes him to die Hercules dies from the poisonous cloak that Nessus gave to Deianira before he died
Death of Hercules After Hercules had marched against the king he sent a bunch of maidens to his wife. Doing this made his wife think he was in love with another women so that day she charmed Hercules’ robe with the blood of a centaur. Later that night he put it on it didn’t kill him but he was put through very much pain. He was than sent up to heaven and married to Hebes.
Archetypes Hercules: Hero; Deianira: a temptress; because her beauty took the attention of both men so they fought for her Hercules and Admetus: opposite pairs; because they go against each other and Admetus does not want to fight but Hercules will take over because he knows he can win 12 labors: Task; he needed to learn a punishment for the action he took Theme: Guilt and Redemption; he felt bad for what he did so he decided he would die and give up his life also Fire; he would light the torch on fire to then give his bow and arrows this could represent the birth of someone new now that Hercules was gone
