Materials Lamps Incandescent Bulbs Compact Fluorescent Bulbs Thermometers Tape
Procedures Tape the thermometer to the wall so the lamp can shine directly on it. Place the lamp about 20cm away from where the thermometer is taped to the wall. Read the temperature (oC) before turning the lamp on. Record at 0 mins. Turn on the lamp. Read and record the temperature (oC) at 2min intervals for 10mins. Calculate and record the change in temperature for each bulb type. Compare.
Question Hypothesis Carefully observe the materials. Read the procedures. Come up with a question for the experiment. Discuss in your group. What do you think will happen? Create your own hypothesis for the experiment.
Question Hypothesis How does the heat output of an incandescent bulb compare to a compact fluorescent bulb? After 10 minutes the ___?___ bulb will create more heat than the ___?___ bulb.
